HCS Camp FAQ Page

What is HCS Camp?

HCS camp is a three week long program created by HCS teachers for HCS K-8 students. We do a variety of activities like sports, STEM, and arts & crafts.

What makes HCS Camp special?

We are a small program. We tailor our activities to our students. Since HCS Camp is run by teachers that know the campers we can plan activities that we know the kids will like.

How big is HCS Camp?

We cap registration at 50 students. One of the hidden benefits of our camp is our small group and multi-age programming. We get students at all different grade levels. Part of the day we split by age and part of the day we are all together as a big group. This gives our campers an opportunity to do things with their peers as well as kids at different levels.

Can non-HCS students come to camp?

HCS camp is only for current HCS students. We will not accept outside students during early and regular registration periods. If space remains after regular registration closes we will open to outside students.

Do you accept incoming kindergarteners?

Sorry we only accept students who have already completed kindergarten.

What will a typical day look like?

Students will engage in various activities on site at HCS as well as at local parks. Campers can expect to do STEM, Arts & Crafts, Sports, and special theme day activities. See our Calendar page for themes.

What are your hours?

We open our doors at 8:30. Activities run from 9:00-3:00. For onsite days we end the day at a local park and parents pick up from there at 3:30. For field trip days we pick up directly from the school at 3:30.

How do we know what is going on with camp?

During summer camp days we send frequent, almost daily, email blasts with updated information for the days ahead. We do our very best to keep parents informed of everything that is going on. Many parents have told us that they really appreciate the amount of communication they receive from our camp.

Who runs HCS Camp?

HCS Camp was created in 2011. Jen Tarangelo and Chris Kunkel are the key camp planners. Other HCS staff help out with our activities.

Will you offer refunds?

All payments are nonrefundable and registrations nontransferable. Please only pay when you are sure you will utilize HCS Camp.

Can my child bring electronics?

Yes, but only on certain days. Most days there will be no reason for kids to have game systems or other devices. We ask that you do not send electronics unless you from us in an email blast that it is ok.

Where can I find recordings from summer music?

From 2011 - 2023 Mr. G recorded music with our campers. This Google Drive Folder contains those recordings.
